Community Resources

There are a myriad of resources and programs in Chicago.  All Chicago has an extensive list of partners that offer a variety of human services. Please review the list and contact a partner directly. Additional community resources include:

Chicago Homelessness Prevention Call Center

  • Individuals seeking assistance in Chicago for basic needs such as rent, utilities, etc., should call 3-1-1 and ask for Short-Term Help to be transferred to the Homelessness Prevention Call Center. The Call Center Information & Referral Specialist will ask you questions about your situation and assess your eligibility for the Emergency Fund’s assistance as well as other community resources. The Information & Referral Specialist will direct you to an Emergency Fund partner agency or other community resources, as appropriate and as resources are available. The Call Center’s hours of operation are Monday – Thursday, 8:30am-4:30pm.

Veterans Resources

In addition to the variety of community resources, there are resources specific to veterans:

  • Veterans Crisis LineVeterans Crisis Line connects veterans in crisis and their families and friends with confidential support via a toll-free phone number, online chat, or text.
  • Jesse Brown VA Medical CenterThe Jesse Brown VA Medical Center provides healthcare services to veterans who reside in Chicago and Cook County.

Jesse Brown VA’s Medical Center’s Community Resource and Referral Center (CRRC)

The Center serves veterans currently experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. The Center is located at A Safe Haven, 2750 West Roosevelt Road. Hours of operation: Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M to 5:30 P.M. Walk-ins are welcomed.
